The New Stone [session 1]

DM INTRO

The year is 1490A.D. its Spring 18th, we find ourselves 1 year after the failed Zink Revolt. Zink is nothing more than a graveyard of junk, trash and people forgotten by its Empire. You all have been assigned to explore an unknown Island just east of Shoin. Empress Athiani tasked you four specifically due to your unique skills and experience in exploring, documenting and returning with any goods you find. You take a deep breathe as you take a moment to take in the sad scene. You hear the hooves of the horse trotting through town and the sorrowful faces of the damned gaze upon you. A large red dragonborn guides your carriage through town. He pulls up in front of a large two story building. Its walls having large gaping holes with scorched stone disjointedly holding it together. He turns around, “You boys hungry? We have some time before we need to be at the dock.” The horse comes to a rough halt and he drops off his seat. He offers a hand.

What happened?

The characters decided to grab some rations and drinks before setting off on their quest. They meet Aze, a fire genasis living in Zink. She decides to join them and the four of them head toward the dock. After hours of travel they arrive to find out they were given the smallest boat with the OLDEST possible captain. They reluctantly agree and head off into the waters. While on their way they encounter a storm, during the chaos Haramond yells at the Captain causing the captain to have a massive heart attack and collapse. Everyone panics, they bring him downstairs where Aze is able to revive him. They then see the Island and dock their ship just off the shoreline. The four souls then head into uncharted territory mapping their surroundings while on the way. After some time they discover 2 sets of abandoned ruins. One a circular shape the other a large rectangular structure with a pattern carved into the stone floor. One of the members traces the carving and discovers it activates a secret passageway. Cautious they wait to see if the passageway will close. After 24 hours it closes and the group agrees to rest, and activate the portal and go inside. The session ends with the group walking down the dark stairway passage into the unknown.
